I completed my Phd in Agricultural Entomology studying the bacterial symbiotic relations of medfly and investigating their potential exploitation towards an Area-Wide Pest Control Management approach. I spent 3 years abroad working for FAO/IAEA-Insect Pest Control Laboratory in Austria.
While there I investigated the Wolbachia-medfly symbiosis and the probiotic role of gut microbiota, aiming to improve the effectiveness of sterility based pest control techniques (SIT or ΙΙΤ). Since May 2016 I have been working in the laboratory of Entomology and Agricultural Zoology involved in insect ecology, behavior and pest management projects.
