I finished my MSc on mosquito population dynamics in the area of Thessaly, Greece. For my PhD my aim is to study the mosquito bio-ecology (Culex, Aedes, Anopheles) and find innovative techniques that target the understanding of mosquitoes’ biology, demographic characteristics (lifespan, fecundity, behaviour), age structure and population dynamics in order to ensure environmental sustainability, economic development and worldwide public health.
The principle goals of my studies include the suppression and management of mosquito-borne diseases and the maintenance of the environmental chain and sustainability avoiding the consequences of the excessive use of pesticides. For these reasons this project is going to provide scientific data to community leaders, public health practitioners and policy makers regarding mosquito control, environment sustainability and viruses’ epidemiology. The highlight of this project is the participation in Clinton Global Initiative University (2014, 2017) as one of the most breakthrough initiative projects around the world.
